Hello everyone! Welcome to week one of the brand-new fully-functional Portland Metronome! There’s a lot of free music in store for us this week (as in, you can go out and see something good every. single. night).
Mimi Naja of Fruition will be continuing her week-long residency at Al’s Den (that little bar in the basement of the Crystal Hotel), which began last night. She’ll be breaking out a different special guest every night, so check our show calendar to find out who will be joining her.
On Thursday, we have the monthly Grateful Dead jam at Biddy McGraw’s, the Irish pub on the corner of NE 60th and Glisan. It should be a great time, and features lots of wonderful local musicians!
On Friday and Saturday, the Tabor will be serving up a big ol’ dish of steamin’ hot FUNK – fo serious. Joey Porter of Juno What?! and the Motet will be playing a two-night tribute to Stevie Wonder. His hand-picked band features some of the best musicians around these days, and I’m just gonna come out and say it – these shows are gonna be AWESOME.
Wrapping up the week, on Saturday we have World’s Finest, opening for Jon Wayne and the Pain at the Goodfoot.
Also a reminder for all you Deadheads out there! Tonight (Monday) is the opening night of Rolling for Jerry, AKA Portland’s finest Grateful Dead bowling league! Last season was pretty darn full, so make sure you get there early to sign up! The pre-bowl meeting begins around 8:45 or 9.
